To all that will sponsor their significant other

First of all, I cannot say what relationship is right or wrong. When sponsoring someone for the US, you are liable for them for 10 years; even if u are divorced. To get the significant other to the US, you made a contract with the government that you will support the person entirely. So women if the relationship goes wrong and you broght him to the US, u have 10 years to support him.
