Your husband's response says it all. It means that these men base their self-worth on virginity. His remarks demonstrate how nothing has changed except the date and time. These men prefer their own women because no demands are placed upon them. The only expectations are that the husband clothes and feeds his woman. He can stay in the street with this "boys" and do whatever he chooses. The woman stays home and doesn't leave unless she is accompanied by a male family members.

Thank God we live in a country where women are valued. Yes, our female ancestors were treated like second-class citizens but they were emotionally strong enough to fight for freedom. Women in Muslim countries have no place to turn and the cycle of emotional and physical abuse continues. How sad.
