A term more destructive than terrorist

Reader comment on item: [Beslan Atrocity:] They're Terrorists - Not Activists

Submitted by Gilbert Simons (United States), Sep 8, 2004 at 00:45

A word that puts Israelis totally on the defensive is "Palestinians." This term, now not only used by the world, but by all Israelis, referring to Arabs of the area, carries a deadly payload. It implies the existence of an Arab Palestine, and all that this entails: that Jews invaded Palestine, conquered it, and now must be liberated.

It is this term which permits the world press to call genocidal murderers freedom fighters, and all the euphemisms for murderers.
Even the terms terrorists are inaccurate, for they refer to the methods of the enemy, not his goals which as Yehoshafat called them, are politicide (the destruction of the Jewish state) and genocide (the extermination of its people).

When I brought up the term "Palestinians" in a symposium, the speaker dismissed my statement, saying it was too late to deal with this term.

If it were up to me, I would order all foreign correspondents to use the correct term, Arabs, and on the second use of the term, "Palestinians," I would give them a one-way ticket out of Israel. I would fine all Israelis a proper fine for using the word, "Palestinians," increased every time they used it again.

All Israeli diplomats would have to correct their colleagues who used the word, and soon, the term would be eliminated from the lexicon.
