Lawrence, American Strategist Submitted by Vijay (United Kingdom), Jan 18, 2010 at 16:58 The reason why Lawrence cannot be a answer is that Lawrence was leading the insurgency of Arabs against the crumbling Ottoman Empire. The task of the US-Western forces is the handling of the insurgency by Al-Queda. The Arab insurgency of Lawrence time is to be viewed against the changing of political map in the Middleeast. In fact the present day Middle eastern political map was drawn in those years of Lawrence and post WW1 years. Inlike that time, a radical redrawing of the middle eastern map is not on anybody's cards except Bin ;Laden's. Given these fundamental differences , I don't know how relevant TEL is nowadays.
