In cities like Brussels or Rotterdam the muslim(born) population is a lot stronger and in the public sphere very much overstated. I would not underestimate a claim that cannot be backed up by numbers now but is backed up very much by politics and administration. The swiss vote however underlines your estimate. Asking the entire population what is the will of the people ? Have the majority make the rules. That is what democracy is about. The swiss vote speaks for itself, but for Switzerland only.
