Even though I continue to support President Bush and wish him The Best, I have had a distinct lack of confidence in his sense of reality concerning the ever present threat of militant Islam. There is ample reason for it considering some of his past public comments, while engaging in Ramadan celebrations, etc. Many Americans seem more aware than President Bush that fundamentalist Islam is NOT a "religion of peace", even though many Muslims are peaceful. (yeah yeah). No wonder, many of them don't even know what the Koran really teaches, I hear. The President's statement that we "worship the same God" was infuriating. One wonders if that was for public consumption, or if he could really be that 'clueless'?. Plenty of us are realistic enough to see the truth that we, in fact, face a deceitful, vicious, uncompromising, and ever vigilent enemy of our freedom & our lives, which is not going away by any ordinary means. There are plenty of conservatives out here, like myself, who would preferr that the the President had said that "The "war on terror" is really about "a struggle against (Islamist) ideological extremists who do not believe in free societies( or the same God) who happen to use terror as a weapon to try to shake the confidence of the world (and who use terror to expand their own obsession with the conquest of the entire world for Islam)". I am in agreement with Mr Pipes, that the President needs to Name it and Claim it, if we are to ever have Victory over it!.
