in response to reader comment: The Myth of Moderate Muslim

Arlinda DeAngelis - You follow the same flawed logic that many Islam haters either willingly or inadvertently fall into without paying much attention to the facts. I will try to sum some of these up:

- The OVERWHELMING majority of Muslims condemned the 9/11attacks; particularly ALL official Islamic bodies and prominent figures, scholars, clerics (Osama ain't any of them, just a mislead man trained by the USA)

- The story did not begin on 9/11. That's where you got it all wrong. It began when you US troops went to Iraq, the Gulf, and since the US has supported the no.1 terrorist state, Israel in its genocide (UN-acknowledged)...only yesterday a Israeli NGO said 60% of those killed in the last war against the Palestinians wree kids and civilians....WE ALL ALREADY KNEW THAT, it s been happening for decades using US money, resources, technology, and weapons (that read: Made in the USA)

- You nuked Japanese cities with hundreds of thousands of civilians (and are yet to apologize) because of their WWII atrocities, but you go haywire because some mislead Muslims killed 3000 in retaliation for your many atrocities? Interesting hipocracy.
- US embargo on Iraq for the fabricated (and now well achnowledged) WMD's killed 500 000 kids (UN estimates)...and that's in Iraq alone.
- If you are a fair person and give yourself and the US the right to bomb countries (and kill many more, including collateral damage despite all your tech) cause you cannot accept the death of 3000 people on your soil, yelling blue murder and "how dare these savages!", then what do you expect people towards a country (USA) that has killed hundreds more of their own

- Muslims don't hate the Jews. Enough with that hype. We hate Israelis. We never persecuted them throughout our history. Actually, their Rabbis refer to their Jew's lives under the Islamic empire as their 'Golden Age'. We've only fought them since Israel was established in the 1940's. The perpetrators of mass kiullings and genocide and burning and torture of the Jews have been the Europeans with hunderds and hundreds of Pope-sanctioned massacres, Spanish inquisitions, and Nazi style fascist moves. So enough of that hype too.

So, if reognition of Israel is a precondition to you considering Islam a credible belief system worthy of our tolerance, Ms. Arlinda DeAngelis...do not hold your breath - the religion of truth will never succumb to a state born of violence, evil, racisim, and theft.

Yes we are the religion of peace. We did not eradicate the millions of indigenous peoples of the Americas. We did not force conversions.

The "New Christians" were inhabitants of the Iberian Peninsula (Sephardic Jews or Mudejar Muslims) during the Middle Ages and the Early Modern Era who were baptized under coercion, becoming Conversos or Moriscos. In spite of their new faith, they were suspected by the "Old Christians" of being Crypto-Jews or Crypto-Muslims. Religious Persecution took place by the Portuguese in Goa, India from 16th to the 17th century. The natives of Goa were subjected to severe torture and oppression by the zealous Portuguese rulers and missionaries.

Additionally, the economic conquest of the Americas by various European forces coincided with and depended on forced conversion to undo indigenous culture resistance to slavery and exploitation. African slaves held in the Americas were also often forcibly converted to Christianity by their masters (Many of who were originally Muslims).
