state of Palestinians warns of perils of a Palestinian state!
Reader comment on item: Palestinian Descent into Chaos

Dear Dr. Pipes,

Israel's need to rid the world of terrorist leaders like Yassin and Rantissi and the destruction of tunnels for transferring weapons from Egypt to the Arabs were ample proof of the dangers faced by the Jewish state. Of course, with new leaders and new tunnels in an evacuated Gaza, the risk can be greater.
Today's anarchy and chaos in Gaza by the Arabs should serve as a warning; were the Israelis the focus of this lawlessness there would be a response, the Arabs would demand "international inspectors" and we know whom they would favor.
Just as Pres. Bush is being criticized for not having followup plans in Iraq- not thinking ahead- so must we think of the results of Israeli evacuation of Gaza and other areas.

There are 22 Muslim states that recognize no other religions; why create a 23rd? It is incongruous that at a time that the US is trying to democratize Iraq she is prepared to create another racist entity! Muslims are free to live in Israel and other parts of the world yet there is no access to their countries. Rather than create another such state it would be more appropriate to require that Muslim nations yield the same freedoms that they demand of others.

In the last 100 years Israel has been whittled down from a sizable homeland to a sliver - throught auspices mainly of the British and UN. She deserves Palestine as promised by the League of Nations in the last century. Arabs who wish to live in peace here should be permitted to remain; a fifth column must be removed. No other country would be asked to tolerate the terrorism that Israel faces daily. Enough!
