No damage

How long until Obama understands his error and retreats from it? How much damage will he do in the meantime?

From the Islamist point of view no damage can be incurred. The usual considerations of cost-benefit do not apply. The only reality that must be applied is the Qur'anic demand that Jews be abased and demeaned whe they pay the poll-tax or Jyzia. Obama is simply acting out his Islamist training of how one must deal with Jews, who are Dhimmis of the worst kind, the most headstrong and tenacious therefore deserving of the harshest treatment. The Jewish community of the United States must realize that the person they helped put in power is as Islamist as Amin Al Hussayni, and will stop and nothing, nothing, to achieve the goal of a subservient Dhimmi Israel.

The only recourse Israel has to put the cards on the table and declare this American administration a dishonest broker, heavily biased towards the Islamist side of the equation. Short of that, a fully armed Arab state, trained and funded by the US will re-iterate the invasion of the Arab legion in 1948, precipitating a devastating war that will require the transfer of all Arabs (inclusive of those who currently enjoy ISrael citizenship) back East of the Jordan, and failing that, the final demise of the Jewish State. That is the way alluded to by Obama in his Festering Sore may 2008 interview in the Atlantic.
