no inconsistencyReader comment on item: U.S. to Israel: You Decide Nukes in Iran, We Decide Bedrooms in Jerusalem Submitted by Pete murray (Ireland), Jul 9, 2009 at 06:34 Obama has merely restated long-standing US policy on the settlements - except that he means it this time. Israel as a soverign nation is totally free to ignore the expressed wishes of the US President on the settlements, and in relation to any military action against Iran. Ditto, the US is a sovereign nation and is entirely free to respond to the actions of foreign countries who act against the its perceived interests as she sees fit. Given that Israel is a major recipient of money raised from the US taxpayer, the US might just re-consider what return it is getting for all this largess in these straitened times - and exercise its soverign preferences as what to do with its money accordingly. There are two appropriate lessons here. 1. Whats sauce for the goose etc. 2. Beggars can't be choosers. No confusion or inconsistency, if you think about it.
