This seems to be an item everyone is eager to sweep under the carpet:
This fellow is remembered by the involved parties for playing a major & unsavory role in the takeover of the US embassy in Teheran in the waning days of the Carter presidency.
He showed already then his disregard for human rights, diplomatic immunity and basic decency.
Nobody wants to remember this now for fear of antagonizing this madman.
How far are we from Chamberlain's Munich?
