I'm an atheist, Susan, and I have to agree with you. The difference between a rather gentle carpenter rabbi and a brigand (the Quran specified how much of the loot Mohammed got) and warlord (Islam's kingdom is here, and it can be had by the sword) is great. I also realize that few understand the distinction between Old and New Testament, a failing of Christians also. As for violence in the Old, Jews recognize it as historical and not a call for today, that cannot be said for all in Islam by any stretch.
