Being togetherReader comment on item: Advice to Non-Muslim Women against Marrying Muslim Men Submitted by bewildered (United Kingdom), Jun 29, 2009 at 03:04 Hi Samantha when I met my man in Sharm I noticed he was unsettled being out with me because the presence of the local police who are their to protect the tourists from being hassled by the Egyptian men. We were stopped one time for just being together in the street, a foriegn woman and a muslim together. They ask for a marriage paper which we did have at that time, we were also asked at times when we were in taxi's together as they are not allowed to be alone with a woman unless married. The police come down on them hard if any tourists complain about being sexually hassled by these men. So no you cannot display any affection in public as you will get questioned and he can go to jail. I hope this helps take care Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes. Original writing only, please.
