Bibi's BlunderReader comment on item: Assessing Binyamin Netanyahu's Speech at Bar-Ilan University Submitted by Rebecca Moulds (United States), Jun 16, 2009 at 00:18 This was just another flowery speech from Netanyahu, repeating many things that he and others have said before. The word "peace" was used 36 times, and phrases referring to "a Jewish state" in various forms (i.e. "Israel as the state of the Jewish people" etc.) were found 11 times. How is a two-state solution possible if Israel is to be recognized as a Jewish state? Exactly what part of Israel will be Jewish and what part Palestinian? Point No. 2 of Dr. Pipes' suggestions to accelerate a two-state solution ( "...protracted era in which Palestinians do not engage in violence against Israelis") is a great idea, but how about not engaging in violence ever again? Netanyahu's speech was typical and redundant, causing this reader to shake her head in disappointment. And someone should tell him that the verse from Isaiah that he mentioned (Isaiah 2:4) is referring to the future kingdom of Israel, a vision of the coming theocracy, therefore not relevant to current affairs.
