Lack of Appropriate Policy Towards Israel Limits Effective Action by American Legislature

Reader comment on item: A Rapid and Harsh Turn against Israel
in response to reader comment: Can the US Senate come to the rescue?

Submitted by M. Tovey (United States), Jun 15, 2009 at 11:46

In looking for a way for the United States to reafirm her alliance with Israel, actions more than can be given by the United State Senate will be necessary after the concessions made by the American administration. All that has happened by taking a more favorable approach to the moderate Arab world's position (the Arab Initiative) is to confuse the issue of the crisis even more. After the Israeli Prime Minister's speech, the 'Palestinian' position has strengthened its resolve against Israel, something not unexpected after the Ameerican administration's strongarm approach to Israel's attempts at internal security.

Israel is now placed in a difficult situation where it is not fully assured of the American administration's solidarity and the American legislature is effectively blocked by a lack of an appropriate policy in this matter.
