Khamene'i loves Ahmadinejad and Twitters from Iran
Reader comment on item: Assessing the Iranian Election

Submitted by LindaK (United States), Jun 14, 2009 at 02:25

Khamene'i loves Ahmadinejad. The latter has successfully gotten away with a nuclear weapons program, clamped down and enforced strict Islamic rule, achieved Sunni-Shia cooperation in some theaters, and expanded Iran's sphere of influence. And they are of the same apocalyptic philosophy. Iran is also reaching out to China now -- China will drill for oil. Maybe they intend to dump Russia.

Someone posted these twitters from Iran that might be of interest (consider the source).

These are from http://twitter.com/tehranelection

  • I have to shut down for a bit, the police are looking for satellites
  • My Father has a truck load of ballot boxes that were to be burned in the back of his truck.
  • Holly shit, be back in a second.
  • The TV is still playing Mahmoud Ahmadinejad victory clips.
  • The government has turned the power off in many locations claiming we need to fix some grid ??? Yeah, right!
  • sirens are now heard....now sure what they are.
  • They were told to do their jobs and speak nothing.
  • My uncle tells me that throughtout most cities Mahmoud Ahmadinejad people had ballot boxes burned.
  • Normal internet access and phones are still out.
  • The people and police are just talking.
  • Right now things are peaceful in my street.
  • My brother just got home and he told me riots are starting in northeast Tehran.
  • On my street, the crowd is pushing the police to the side.
  • The police are telling people to get off the street and go home
  • Several other cities are reporting voter fraud.
  • I'll post it when I can.
  • I'm filming the street with my camera
  • The TV has been reporting a national victory for Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.
  • It is 4:00 am here and people are filling the street.
  • I'm looking out my window and people are starting to fill the street.
