While I agree pretty much with Mr. Besig's point, I suspect that he is underestimating the problem. As I see it Mr. Obama is narcissistic personality: He has a grandiose self image, he is entirely self centered, and is his own unique referent for his decisions.

He is interested essentially in himself, and in developing admirors, not because of what he admirors can do to achieve objective ends, but because of their admiration which he glows by reflecting in.

I suspect that he is a very ruthless man for those who do not adhere to the personality cult he is building.

I suspect that now that he has tied himself into a position demanding concessions from Israel, he will go after these with an intensity quite unlike that of a politician seeking to influence change, and much more like an impatient powerful guardian (in loca parentis) might impress (birch in hand) on a vagrant child.

I think that it's already personal.
