Obama will achieve nothingReader comment on item: A Rapid and Harsh Turn against Israel Submitted by Kathy (United States), Jun 5, 2009 at 15:04 Platitudes, flattery, and political doublespeak - not to mention outright falsehoods - will not do much to bridge the divide between the Muslim world and the West. In my opinion, the best that anyone can expect is a temporary and uneasy truce, whenever a truce seems economically advantageous to both sides. Muslims and the West are inherently incompatible. Perhaps the core of the problem may be the fact that Muslims do not believe in what we call "separation of church and state". To them, such separation is a totally foreign concept, and if there is a common goal in the Muslim world, it is to join religion and state into one ruling machine and conquer those who resist submission to their laws. Just getting along won't do. A showdown is coming. It won't be pretty. But it is inevitable... and necessary.
