West following same fateful steps of India of yoreReader comment on item: Islam in American Textbooks Submitted by B.N.Gururaj (India), Apr 11, 2009 at 07:12 When India's great past was 'discovered' by the West, India had been under subjugation of the British. Hence, none considered it important lay the history of a British colony before the reading public. Instead, it was doctored to suit the British political needs. But, the real tragedy was that during the freedom struggle and thereafter, Indians themselves have pursued the same line and done worse by actively hiding Islam's monstrous record in India. Government of India has actively sought aid of marxist scholars of JNU and scholars of Aligarh Muslim University to procure history of its choice. Therefore, in India, we have a whole generation of people who know no better than the wishy-washy history based on Hindu-Muslim unity, promoted by Nehru. But then, Nehru was not a scholar. He was an illiterate in History, but wrote two books, which are still touted as great books in India itself. From this website, it is seen that larger number of Americans show concern about the way history is taught in their schools, Islam is reported in the media. I am glad that Americans have not been apathetic to these vital issues. That active concern will stand in good stead.
