Respect or kow-towing?Reader comment on item: Obama, "Respect" and Muslims Submitted by Rebecca Moulds (United States), Apr 5, 2009 at 11:12 I'm thoroughly sick and tired of the word "respect". Regardless of whether or not President Obama realises that respect for one religion over another doesn't produce the desired results, the word itself is being changed to mean "kow-tow". The one who bends over backwards ultimately will be despised. It is better to stand one's ground and be despised for that belief rather than to be despised for giving in, which, by the way, will happen if Shari'a is allowed to enter this country. Can we really "respect" a religion that allows for its followers honor killings or this new idea from Afghanistan, the legal rape of wives?
