Text book doctoring. More Indian experience.

Reader comment on item: Islam in American Textbooks

Submitted by B.N.Gururaj (India), Mar 28, 2009 at 23:03

Doctoring of text books for hiding the dreadful record of Islamic past can be a contagious disease. Once started, everything gets whitewashed, or evidence distorted, or evidence suppressed, or facts denied. In India, this negationism is the official policy of the Government of India. National Council for Education, Research and Training, (NCERT), under the Ministry of Human Resources Development Ggovernment of India, prepares these text books in keeping with the official policy of whitewashing Islam's violent past in India. In a history text book which is about 180 pages, 85 pages have been devoted to glorify Delhi Sultanate and Mughal rule, but barely six lines devoted to Shivaji's Hindu Kingdom and how he faught against Islamic oppression.

Americans had better be alert against such attempt at shaping the thoughts of future generations. India is already saddled with a whole new generation of youth, who are brought up on the staple diet of these text books, and who refuse to believe that anything is wrong with Islam at all, notwithstandiing the murderous terrorist acts sponsored and encouraged by the Islamic ideology.
