>There is more than enough evidence to believe that Jews were living in Madina at the advent of Islam in that city. But I don't know why are you denying that?

Then where is your extant evidence? let me help you: there are no papyri, ostraca, monuments or epigraphy any where that will support that there were Jewish communities in Medina or Mecca and as a matter of fact there are no extant evidence to support the claims about the origin of islam in al-Hijaz as claimed by the Islamic tradition

What we have is literary evidence that is transmitted to us from the islamic tradition 2-3 centuries after the death of Muhammad and such evidence was created to explain what the Qur'an is really saying and it is not real history

Now I urge you to check the following:

1. Hoyland's "Arabia and the Arabs from the bronze age to the coming of islam" where he provides us with all the extant evidence we have about Arabia before islam

2. Hoyland's Survey about extant sources of early islam both from non-Muslims as well as from Arabic language sources

3. Aslo check Wansbrough's lecture "Res ipsa loquitur" delivered by him to the Israel Academy of Sciences and Humanities. The evidence we have is literary evidence by the biggest literary fraud in the history of mankind and that is the Islamic historical tradition

Were there Jews in the Hijaz prior to islam? if there were indeed jews in the Hijaz then we have no credible evidence that such communities existed unless we can find a cave somewhere
