This is an excellent review of an important book. Professor McCarthy covers a previously much neglected ground. It is unfortunate that in the US or European universities there is little pursuit of this topic. Europe and Russia and Ukraine need to look into their conscience and face their past deeds. I would have thought that the European Union would have commissioned a research project on this topic by now. But they will probably never do as it would make their citizens realise how their present is merely repeating their past.
