Have you considered?Reader comment on item: Is an Iraqi Strongman Emerging? Submitted by Bernard Freedman (United States), May 4, 2004 at 17:53 Mr. Pipes:The American troops in Iraq are restoring oil drilling and storage facilities, pipelines, electical generation, water facilities, hospitals, schoolsetc, etc. etc. All this at great cost. When we leave, Iraq will be in far better shape than before the invasion! Just why we are doing this escapes me! Do you know why? Is it because we have always done this in the past. Past recipients were usually very grateful. Thus, I think we should send out a warning to the Iraqis that if the killing of Americans - and other conditions -do not stop immediately, we will discontinue these so called reconstruction efforts. Thus, they have much to lose if they do not comply. I would be very interested in your reply.
