hi, as a brit currently living in scotland, i'd like to point out to you and your readers that Richard Cook, quoted in the most recent update to this article, has links to the race-baiting British National Party, who i'm sure you're aware of, so i won't patronise you by listing the reasons why this makes him an unwise and unreliable source to quote.
my own view on most of this particular article would be: why the fuss? it seems to be that islamic children are able to pledge to Allah, without affecting the rights of Scottish (or English, or American) Christian kids to pledge to God as they would have done in the past. I can't help but feel you're reaching here to find things that can be portrayed as some sinister scheme - the simple truth is that a sizable percentage of British Scouting-age kids do not believe in either deity, and an overwhelming majority do not actively practice religion. It hasn't even really made the news here, in fact all the top search results are from BNP-affiliated blogs, freerepublic et al, or sites such as this which catalogue similar cases.
