Alternative Mideast Peace Plans

Reader comment on item: Israel's Strategic Incompetence in Gaza

Dear Dr. Pipes,

I agree with you that a Palestinian state is totally unworkable.

In addition to your "no-state solution," there are two other alternative peace plans making the rounds among Israelis. Both plans call for no Palestinian state to be established, and for Palestinian Arabs to be paid to leave and resettle in any country of their choosing, other than Israel. Both plans are very similar, but they have some differences.

One is called the "Israeli Initiative," and it is written by Knesset member Benny Elon: http://www.israelinitiative.com/

The other plan is from the Jerusalem Summit, an Israeli think-tank. It is authored by Martin Sherman, a professor at Tel Aviv University: http://www.jerusalemsummit.org/eng/hs_short_eng.htm

I hope you find these plans useful. Please keep up your excellent work!
