Mr. Pipes, regarding: 8) The IDF has learned from tactical mistakes made in 2006.
I think you are wrong, as we will all find out over the coming weeks now that the Gaza ground war has begun. The primary tactical error is the actions based on the underlying assumption by the Israeli government and the IDF that Hamas will be cowed by overwhelming military power. The assumption that a military solution can be found for Israeli/Palestinian issues has been proven wrong time and time again. This war will be no different.
You have always advocated for Israel to 'win' the war against the Palestinians, to mount a campaign that will inflict so many casualties that their will to resist will be shattered. Such opinions denies the history of Palestinian Arabs, and their desire for freedom, which they have never had, ever. Palestinians, like Americans, are willing to fight and die for their freedom and will never give up that right. This spirit cannot be defeated by the expanding Israeli colonialism in the West Bank, or by the repeated military blows inflicted on them.
You should know by now that each Israeli military action only breeds the next generation of Palestinian fighters, prolongs the conflict, and puts off the day all of us in this land will have to sit down and learn how to live together in a democracy.

Daniel Pipes replies:
On your last point - what's been wrong time and again is not victory, which has yet to take place, but compromise and "painful concessions."
