Hiding behind women's skirts and baby bottles
Reader comment on item: The aftermath of attack in Gaza

Submitted by John Randall Peacher (United States), Jul 27, 2002 at 17:15

Would that the terrorists in the Mideast stop hiding behind women's skirts and baby bottles. There can be no comparision to other freedom fighters if one were to consider the history of the struggle of the Palestinian Authority against Israel.

In the protracted battles the French and the Americans fought in Indochina, the North Vietnamese and their supporters for the most part hid in the jungles and fought. Although both Germany and the Allied forces bombed population centers in World War Two, it was in a effort to destroy factories, railways, airports and shipping facilities.

Never in recorded history of mankind have "men" fought a war in such a manner as Islamic terrorists. They are directly attacking open and free societies and innocent civilians are a main target. In my opinion, anyone living in the vicinity of any of these types of men are in the line of fire. I cannot imagine condoning or being silent if I were faced with such a clear and present danger to myself and my family. It is time for Palestinian men and women to realize who their enemy really is. They must elect new leaders and stand up to this Islamic Mafia that is presently in control of Palestinian population centers.

Other nations have overthrown such tyrants. George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Nathan Hale, and many of the founding fathers of America were willing to pay with their lives for freedom and democracy. Their families were marked as traitors. At times, the majority of the population of the Colonies in the New World favored Britian. But, there comes a time when, even though in the minority, men and women must stand up and be willing to pay the price of freedom.

Palestinians are now facing this time of decision. Unlike the Founding Fathers of the United States, the Palestinians have many supporters, if they would only start to learn to live in peace and coexist with the soverign State of Israel.
