Arabic language translators.

I was amazed to learn that in the rush to obtain the services of Arabic language translators, Jews from Arab lands were at first encouraged to apply and then they were disqualified from applying.

How anyone can trust Arabists in preference to Jews in these jobs is beyond me.

I wonder why the Jews were discriminated against,- by whose orders and for what reasons?
