Wise ObservationReader comment on item: [The Khadrs:] Canada's First Family of Terrorism Submitted by Fred Thornett (Australia), Mar 16, 2004 at 16:13 Your comment about the unfortunate case of the Khadr family of El Qaeda sympathisers from Canada is extremely wise. The policy change you recommend must be an essential aspect of government policy in Australia and all other westrn countries. Your remark was:"The key in the Khadr case, as it will likely be for others, is isolation within a militant Islamic environment — schools, press, social life. Preventing such self-segregation must be an urgent policy goal throughout the West." Our country, like the USA, is a land of great ethnic and religious diversity - and there is a growing Muslim presence. However if Muslims were more strongly encouraged to integrate in our society as effectively as do members of all of our country's many other ethnic and religious groups then the likelihood of sad outcomes like that of the Kahdr family would become very rare indeed.
