War is not fairReader comment on item: The aftermath of attack in Gaza Submitted by Allyson RowenTaylor (United States), Jul 24, 2002 at 10:49 Mr. Pipes, you started out by saying this was a mistake on Israel's part, and then you back up the reasons on why it was done. This man, of course, was using children and women has human shields. What was Israel suppossed to do? I thought the Palestinians would be happy with the deaths of the new "martyrs". Why is death OK when committed by Shahid, and they are martyred, and not celebrated when committted at the hands of the Jews? Are the virgins not there when they are killed by Jews? How can they clebrate death one way, and not the other? I am confused. Allyson Rowen Taylor Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes. Original writing only, please. Comments are screened and in some cases edited before posting. Reasoned disagreement is welcome but not comments that are scurrilous, off-topic, commercial, disparaging religions, or otherwise inappropriate. For complete regulations, see the "Guidelines for Reader Comments". Daniel Pipes replies: I meant that it was a mistake for Israel to attack. That such attacks feed the martyr complex only adds to my reservations. Comment on this item
