ASMEAReader comment on item: The Problem with Middle East Studies Submitted by Daniel G. Shaw, PhD (United States), Aug 30, 2008 at 02:07 I pity academicians who need to publish or perish, for there are few publishers who will consider those scholars who dare to speak out against Islam or, for that matter, any religion. The recently inaugurated Association for the Study of the Middle East and Africa, jointly edited by Bernard Lewis and Fuad Ajami, seeks to provide an outlet for such scholarship. You can explore ASMEA here: www.asmeascholars.org Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes. Original writing only, please. Comments are screened and in some cases edited before posting. Reasoned disagreement is welcome but not comments that are scurrilous, off-topic, commercial, disparaging religions, or otherwise inappropriate.
