I wish...Reader comment on item: The Problem with Middle East Studies Submitted by DONVAN (United States), Aug 4, 2008 at 10:16 I wish I had a plan for the deconstruction of the Mu'slam mythologies. It has become clear that civilization cannot coexist with a composite mythology based on hate. Call it "Islam" " Islamism", "Jihad" it's history is well known. A good first step would be to decertify 'Islam' as an "Abrahamic" belief system. I can find no justification or association of Muhammed with Abraham. The propaganda that Islam is one of the ..."Great monothestic religions" should be dispelled as well. It is ,as Benedict said, "Unreasonable". Hence it is not a great religion objectively. I would also advance the notion that personality disorders; paranoia, latent and active hostilities toward "The other", including homicidal and suicidal ideation are exercerbated ,if not caused, by the internalization of the mythology itself. No other belief system which encourages the taking of life, subjugation of all non believers, enslavement of others, would be tolerated. We should, of course, preserve and protect as much as possible, the lives of those unfortunates subject to this mythology. But, the survival of civilization is paramount. The demotion of "Islam" to an unreasonable, violent, hate motivated, composite mythology dedicated only to the advancement of its own political agenda of conquest is a good start.
