A mighty weapon

Reader comment on item: Interview with Daniel Pipes

From the interview:
"Therefore, you have to fight the ideology of Islamism, not the religion of Islam. We know how to fight ideologies. We fought Fascism and Communism and now there's Islamism. We can't fight a religion. So if it's reduced to a religion, then we lack the tools to protect ourselves."

"We can't fight a religion." I've been mulling over this sentence. True, it's a clear-headed conviction, yet as a Christian I feel like being left defenceless against something threatening.

Could there be a way out?
The crux of these matters is of course that an increasing number of Europeans don't care a straw for their religion. Cynics can say they deserve what is waiting for them.

Sure, we can not fight a religion, yet we can refuse to accept it. We must shun and oppose a deeply anti-christian and profoundly anti-jewish religion. Awareness must be awakened! The work done by Dr. Pipes in this respect is admirable and exemplary.

How about us ordinary Christians? A mighty weapon has been given us: the Word — "quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword."
