Opposing Barak Obama
Reader comment on item: Obama vs. McCain on the Middle East

Submitted by Amitabh Tripathi (India), Jun 12, 2008 at 03:22

Presidential election in America has become curiosity for everyone everywhere. There is a valid reason behind this. Since last few years world has exposed to a new threat in form of Islamism challenging the very foundation of civilizations.

Since 9\11 Islamism has come on the forefront of debate in every society and nation. 9\11 provided a chance to USA to unite and polarize the world against Islamist threat. USA responded well to this timely call and world rallied behind them in their action against perpetrators of 9\11. Since 9\11 policies of America against Islamism, its definition to point out enemy of civilizations and its plan of action paved the way for other nations to strategies themselves in war on terror. After more than seven years war on terror has entered into another era.

The man who was responsible for declaring war on terror is about to complete his second consecutive term and people of America are on the verge of deciding his successor. In this way election of American president ship has become interesting as well as very much on stake for everyone. The interest and curiosity which this election has generated is clearly evident from the reporting of primary elections of candidates for nomination of candidate for president ship from their respective party. In India from last three four month every major news paper of every language has given wide coverage to the nail biting contest for nomination between Hillary Clinton and Barak Obama. Things are still not clear yet but it is more probable that Barak Obama would contest for presidentship as democrat candidate against republican nominee John McCain.

Being an Indian how much stake we have in this election. What we would lose if Barak Obama comes to power and what we are getting if John Macken becomes president of the most powerful nation of this world. Victory of any one of them is not going to affect India much on diplomatic level rather than academic level. Problems in India have polarized the academicians on several issues and some of them are visible with its local reach but some of them are invisible with their global reach.

In such issues conflict of Israel-Palestine falls in category of invisible issue with global reach. In India this issue is corner stone for Islamist and leftist ideology. This is the main issue which brings them closer to each other. Leftist and Islamists have stick in their hand in form of this issue to beat their opponents with this. Leftists and Islamists had used this weapon many times to polarize Muslim vote bank.

In last assembly elections in Kerala one of southern province of India major leftist party in India CPM (communist party Marxist) fought election on foreign policy to condemn the Indian government for voting against Iran in IAEA and their election campaign was based on the pictures of late Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat to polarize muslim vote with global appeal of Islamic Ummah. Left party was able to garner huge support among Muslims on this issue and they were able to clean sweep those constituencies which were earlier congress and Muslim league stronghold. This was the recent election in India which was fought on the issue of foreign policy and conflict of Israel-Palestine was pivotal to this campaign.

Since Islamism has emerged as global phenomenon imaginary theory of atrocity on Muslim has also emerged with global and local appeal. In this theory conflict of Israel-Palestine has global reach which involves every Muslim on this planet with a predetermined approach that Israel is an aggressor which has been imposed by western powers illegally on the chest of Muslim nations.

After completion of sixty years of its creation Israel still struggling for its survival as well recognition from Arab nations and conflict of Israel-Palestine still survives as an inspiration for the Islamist thinkers and terrorists worldwide. No prominent Islamic scholar, thinker, theologian has yet accepted the right of Israel as Jews nation to survive and exist. They all have their own excuse to portray Israel as aggressor.

Theory of Muslim atrocity with global reach as conflict of Israel-Palestine as its main topic is a meeting ground for lawful Islamists and Islamist terrorist or radical Islam. Movement of Islamism is going to get any shape in near future with stand on this conflict. Since creation of Israel middle east emerged as battle ground for Arab and Israel and modern Islamist movement with terrorism as strategy flourished in middle east but later Islamist ambitions to reshape this world in background of Quran and Shariyat made the whole world as its battleground with south Asia as worst sufferer.

In this background if you analyze the importance of election for president ship in America for South Asia things become clear and clearer. Islamist terrorism has become global phenomenon and it could not be seen in isolation. We have to read it in its totality with its global motive and reach.

War on terror which was declared by president of America in 2001 few days after attack on world trade centre has involved every nation of this earth in this war willingly or unwillingly. America attacked Afghanistan and then Iraq but consensus which was built after 9\11 in the case of Afghanistan was disappeared when America targeted Iraq.

One of the main reasons behind this dissappearment was fear of backlash in several countries with involvement of theory of atrocity on Muslims. It was another example how Middle Eastern issues have so much importance in world affairs. In this way election of American president is much more important for south Asia When it is very much clear that Barak Obama is almost finalized for the democrat candidature this election is going to become more and interesting because of some apprehension of some sections in America as well as in other parts of the world for Barak Obama.

As earlier it has been said newspapers in India given so wide coverage to the close race for the democrat candidacy between Barak Obama and Hillary Clinton. Newspapers also published other news items how Obama is related to a black church whose pastor made a statement just after 9\11 and that statement was very much in consonance to Islamist apologists who were justifying attack on America. Other important thing which people came to know about Barak Obama was his Muslim childhood. It was not surprising and sensational that Barak Obama was enrolled in his primary public school as Mulsim or was he Muslim from his father side the most socking was hiding this fact from Obama side.

Till thses facts came out in open from some investigative journalism Barak Obama always denied facts that he was ever a Muslim. It came out as a big surprise for people in India as well with apprehensions in mind for Barak Obama and his past. After these revelations Barak Oabma in India has lost its glamour and people seriously thinking about the repercussion of his victory. However leftist-liberal and Islamists are jubilant and portraying Barak obama as a new messiah to give new direction to this world but majority of people who have pragmatic thought and are worried of the consequences of his victory to war on terror have started writing and speaking vocally against Barak Obama.

Two major points are the main concern in India for people who oppose Barak Obama. One is his Muslim past and other is his well known sympathy for Palestine.

In India we also have democratic system although it is parliamentary and very much common with Britain but we have experience how candidates crumble under pressure and try to appease lobbies to assure their victory but when they took charge after victory their adherence was very much with their ideological inclination and these deceptive measures also embolden those forces who term this victory as their own.

Barak Obama has clarified several times that he is not a Muslim and he advocated in some of his interviews how much respect he keeps for jewery. Barak Obama speaks on these matters as appeasers but it put question mark before his own integrity and make him vulnerable to pressure.

Suppose he becomes president of America in such a situation when its victory or defeat to war on terror could decide the fate of world and succumbs to pressure and start appeasing Islamists and supporters to these Islamist terrorist what would be the nature of this world and situation become similar to Pakistan where new government is not sure about its stand on Islamist terrorism whether to negotiate with them or take firm action against them.

We have classic case of Pakistan before us as well Bangladesh and India where Government's generosity towards terrorism was interpreted by terrorists as soft nation vulnerable to attack and ideologues of Islamism as invisible supporter of Islamist movement. Barak Obama in his campaign has talked in various ways which public opinion liked or disliked. It put a big question mark before his integrity and make task difficult for others to define him as statesman.

In this difficult phase world needs a seasoned statesman to lead America to consolidate all forces which departed with America after Iraq invasion. Need of the hour demands for a leader who would be able to crush the enemy with iron hand without repeating the mistakes of George W Bush.

Obama don't fall in this category. His victory would embolden the imaginary theory of atrocity on Muslims with its approach on Israel-Palestine conflict portraying Israel as aggressor. Islamist lobby world over would take victory of Barak Obama as their victory which ultimately culminates in Islamisation of America paving the way for Islamic rule in whole world.

Victory of Barak Obama would be turning point in history of Islamism and it is a milestone as was 9\\11 when Islamist terroists world wide realized if one group of Al-Queda could challenge the most powereful nation on this earth what would be the result if all Islamist forces in different countries gets united. If Barak Obama gets success to reach to the top post of USA lawful Islamism would get so much boost which has been defined by Dr Daniel Pipes as a strategy of Islamism to push their agenda of Islamic supremism and imposition of Shriyat and Quran in social life and system with lawful means avoiding the radical and militant ways but according to Dr Pipes, lawful Islamism is as dangerous as radical Islam.

Classical case for lawful Islamism is Turkey. would get so much boost. Now it is up to the nationalist forces of America to decide because rest of world can watch and prepare themselves for the consequences final battle of ballots has to be fought in America.
