Fight or ConvertReader comment on item: Counterpoint: Look Closer at Group behind the Accusations Submitted by John Pottorff (United States), Jul 11, 2002 at 19:15 I partly agree with you Mr. Pipes, but I also think that you are minimizing the threat of even the "patriotic American" Muslims. I would bet that here in American or any Arab or Asian Muslim country that there are a few Muslims that would disagree with the militant Muslim fanaticism. But when push comes to shove, these so-called "patriotic" or moderate Muslims will side with their militant brothers before they would support America or American actions against Arab Muslim terrorism. Given a little time, it seems to me that with all of the immigration of Arabs to North America and Western Europe, the stage is being set for nothing but problems for democratic governments. With the history of these relentless and long-term militant terror acts and the support of all of their Arab countries, the very foundations of free western governments is at stake. Do you really believe that there are Muslims that would fight against their own brothers. I don't think you do. The problem seems to be that our American forefathers didn't and couldn't contemplate every contingency for protecting our liberties. But we who are living in the present can do something about it. If we realize that the U.S. Constitution wasn't handed down to us from heaven, and stop worshipping it as some sacred document, then we can defend ourselves. Change it to prevent our enemies from coming here. That means being discriminatory. It's either that or a future major war with them, or severe government intrusion into our lives to "protect" us from our enemies.
