FlexibilityReader comment on item: An International Law to Respect Religion? Submitted by Monte Gardner (United States), Apr 6, 2008 at 17:47 Well, I think the Muslim world can be a little more flexible then you give them credit for. My understanding is that the term "people of the book" originaly only included christians and Jews. At least some Islamic scholars later expanded the term to include Hindus and Zoroastrians. (Can any Muslims out there confirm this)? If so, this shows that there can be recognition of other religions in the Muslim world. If there is at least some dawning of the idea of the universality of law in this council and its equal applicability, then perhaps there is some light at the end of the tunnel here. I choose to be cautiously optimistic here. Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes. Original writing only, please. Reasoned disagreement is welcome but not comments that are scurrilous, off-topic, commercial, disparaging religions, or otherwise inappropriate.
