Where will Europe go?

Reader comment on item: Will Europe Resist Islamization?

Submitted by Amin Riaz (United Kingdom), Apr 6, 2008 at 12:42

Islam has always converted more Christians and continues to do so ..... then vice versa.

Islam has far more people actually practising Islam then Christianty

Christianty always looes more people to vaious ideologies then Islam does

And that does not go down well. Its not Islam that was the first threat to Europe (actually Islam is not the biggest) is SECULARISM. I can get out of my house in England (Born here of Indian origin - before the Pakistani insults set in or Arab ones), and walk in any direction and have trouble finding Christians.

When Dr. Pipes you talk about Europe going back to its root ..... exactly what roots?

What France did was wrong according to the so called open and free society rules. Its religious law was brought in mostly because of Muslims. Its against freedom of choice and religion.

Anti Immigration that targets Muslims only would be wrong too?

Now where do you see this Europe going to? More Christian? Secular?

I can undertand what Europe means ..... Christianty might have started in Middle-East but with rise of Islam it fell. It was Europe that was the safe haven. America was born beacuse of Europe. So was Australia and Canada. Its were the Europeans that spread Christianty more then anyone else. It was Europe that made Israel too for that fact. And perhaps more importantly it was at the borders of Europe that rise of Islam stopped. England more then anyother country has played an important and decisive role, I know. Now if that same rock fell ....

hmm? - European economy, technolgy politics and ideologies came from a shift ways from Christianty. You do not find the same form of Christianty that was practised 500 years ago. So I am interested to know what will Secular (which it mostly is now - else you wont find so many other religions here) do. Put limit to its freedoms so to stop Islam. Although it doesnt actually matter what you think of Islam for this debate. It's foreign and not the same.

... Say Islam is stopped as an ideology in West and then another challenge comes along. Now are you looking a way to change things to the current free-4-all system, where a lot of time your own laws are a hindrance, or is it really Just Islam.
