I believe you ...Reader comment on item: On Islam and Islamism Submitted by Oliver (United States), Mar 31, 2008 at 12:31 I truely believe there are MANY good (humanly speaking) people who think of themselves as Muslim. These people 'nit-pick' quranic verses - out of context - in a futile attempt to 'prove' that Islam is a religion of peace. This does not make these people bad - just misinformed - or possibly blinded. Read your quran - most of the peaceful (Meccan) verses were abrogated by vicious (Medinan) verses. Most verses that exhort 'good' behavior - direct that behavior toward other Muslims. Non-Muslims (unbelievers) are considered worse than camel dung - fit only for the edge of the sword at best or dhimmitude at worst. Does the quran 'make' Muslims bad people - NO - but it doesn't make them good. Q 109 - do you know it? - while commendable it became worthless when Mohammad fled to Medina. It cannot be used to defend what Islam IS - only what Islam MIGHT HAVE BEEN. Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes.
