I want to see some light...but Truth is Truth!
Reader comment on item: An International Law to Respect Religion?

Submitted by Norma Fares (Qatar), Mar 22, 2008 at 21:24

Being affiliated to a religion is something that is human and which exists round the globe not only in the Arab World. With only one disgraceful truth that is, in the Arab World with a majority of Islamic Regimes, Everything, including basic human rights, is based only on [one] religion: Islam and Sharia Laws.

Advocating "a International law to Respect Religion" is a beautiful-belated-concept in 21 century and in a world that witnessed the first-successful-touristic- trip to the moon in 2006 when and simultaneously, Hezbollah was conducting a war with Israel against Lebanon and which Hassan Nassrallah called it the "war of al-Umma [Al-Islamiya] whether Lebanese people liked it or not".

Before discussing the success of such "A International Law to Respect Religion", let's admit that most of Arab Islamic Regimes has successfully managed to shape the mind and the heart of their people with an outstanding hatred toward anything that is non-Muslim.

And before discussing other religion's practices than Islam, would the Arab regimes, the Saudi Arabia on the top of them, be able to overcome the endless-Sunni-Shiia-conflict, not only in the Region, but inside their own countries?

I want to see some light in implementing "A International Law to Respect Religion" in the beautiful Arab Land where I was born. Only a few days ago, the people of Lebanon, the only remaining multicultural society amid its environment, witnessed an architectural-Heritage-genocide of the Jews of Lebanon in Beirut http://thejewsoflebanon.org/me/index.php.

Building churches in Islamic Regimes , in a state like Saudi Arabia in particular, does not solve the problem. Cleaning the souls from hatred-- that is educated to people who endure backwardness, poverty, unemployment and corruption-- contrary does.

Until then, I do not mean to be pessimist. I want to see a light of goodness hitting the Arab world. I do want so but Truth is Truth.

Thank you Dr. Pipes for bringing up such an important, vital and human subject.
