You Really Put It Together on President BushReader comment on item: Bush the radical Submitted by William Kinney (United States), Nov 13, 2003 at 00:05 Your last paragraph drew a live chuckle. President Bush is becoming more assured and comfortable. I think you are right to expect him to go at it vigorously. And that is what we need.Sixty years literally is 1943. What I am delighted to have repudiated is the 1954 overthrow of Mossadegh of Iran, who was going to nationalize Iran's oil. There was a working democracy in Iran. A great variety of Iranians struggled for years to get rid of the Shah who followed. Muslim hardliners did not overthrow him, they won the power struggle after the people overthrew him. President Carter's solicitude for the defeated tyrant cost us the Iranian street. Iranians are really a very modern people. John Foster Dulles' polarizing was wrong. The tyrant most like the shah is Saddam Hussein. What we had been doing was working against ourselves.
