How this anti Semitism insults Islam

A number of writers have commented extensively on just how this diatribe by Mahathir not only slanders Jews, but even more sharply defames Christians, Muslems, and Europeans. Amir Taheri has written the most clearly on this slander which pretty much makes out Christians, Moslems and Europeans as stupid and docile creatures who are led around by the nose by cunning and clever Jews. Of course the myth of Jewish world domination could be considered in some ways complimentary in the sense of a numerically and statistically insignificant number of Jews being able to run the world's media, economies, and politics, as well as induce non Jews to fight our wars implies Jewish power of practically god like magnitude. The development of human rights and democracy to me are in and of themselves positive events and if the Moslem World wishes to lay these achievments at the doorstep of the Jews, then fine.

Unfortunately, the goal of Mahathir and those like him are not so sanguine. Indeed, the goals of these Moslems is to make the Jewish People "socially dead" as defined by Goldhagen in his brilliant treatment of the German Nazi regime, and thus make it possible and necessary to once again try to exterminate all of us. I personally found his remarks to be infantile, foolish, and very dangerous, to the Jewish People of course, but also to his Moslem constituency. The Moslem world needs openness, democracy, human rights, market economies, and above all, a culture of peace and friendship, not only with the Jews but with itself. Saddam Hussein has almost certainly deliberately murdered more Islamic Arabs, just in Iraq, all by himself, than any other man, Islamic or not, in history. Saddam Hussein, during the war with Iran, probably killed more Moslems than the Crusaders or any other non Moslems including the Jews, in history. The Islamic world needs peace and understanding, not more death and destruction.
