As a long time westerner - resident of the Islamic world - I have heard a number of even more bizarre attempts to appropriate "locals not yet a part of their domain".

The following are actual on-the-street beliefs in this part of the world:

1: When Neal Armstrong first stepped on the moon - hear heard the Islamic call to prayer.

2: A muslim explorer discovered America - well before Columbus.

3: Since Muslims live in Australia legally - and native Aussies were sent their as convicts - Muslims have a greater right to Austrailia than Aussies.

Well - I'm glad we got all THAT settled.
