Reader comment on item: Israeli Leftists Plead for U.S. Pressure on Their Government

Submitted by Steve Ralston (United States), Dec 27, 2007 at 23:47

In your article you posted two comments at the end of it that said :

"Comment: (1) This appeal to an outside agency to pressure their own government is profoundly undemocratic. (2) It is hard to imagine the intellectuals of any other state acting in like fashion. (December 26, 2007)

Comment (1) is entirely accurate & is a typical liberal leftist ploy to attack from all sides, especially when their position lacks merit & may be losing ground to public opinion.

However, on Comment (2): Sorry, but its not hard to imagine this. American liberal leftist intellectuals, political elitists, & many others, have used international connections & forums to denigrate America, American policies, American officials, American actions, and even average American citizens (remember when American voters were tagged as "stupid" by some band group & an actor backed up that comment in another forum or article in a foreign paper?).

Or, cue Al Gore at the Bali Climate Change conference blaming America for his perception that there is a lack of action or even that America is blocking establishing concrete commitments to actionable legal requirements to combat climate changes. He said something like "my country is standing in the way or is responsible for inaction." (He fails to mention he is responsible for an unsubstantiated & false alarmism that has alienated many from the sciences causing many of the people to be concerned we are being led down another garden path!)

Either Gore, Clinton (Bill), or another American politician also dumped on American policy at a conference in Saudi Arabia over the past two years. It happens every day that the left takes it to America, blaming America, calling for nations to band together to push America or punish America, so she acts in manners similar to the rest of the world or as the rest of the world wants us to act! The "collective" desperately wants America to become part of their cadre of international socialists!

Many in America are furious that American politicians, publishers & editors, academics, and other elitists from the left, take it to this nation while making speeches on foreign soil. But then again, with the aid of a complicit liberal left sympathetic media, they do the same thing while at home. Attacking America, the American experience, or American values; especially while a Republican is President, has become a national sport for Democrats, the liberal left media, leftist academics, & many other radical liberal leftists!

Israel & America (or at least conservative America), face attacks by our own every day. And, they do so based solely on opinions that have historically proved to be self destructive to any nation.
