Teddy bear affair.Reader comment on item: Not Child's Play: The Teddy-Bear Intifada Submitted by Janusz Kowalik (United States), Dec 3, 2007 at 16:38 The sudanese mob demonstrating aginst the British teacher and demading her execution is for the West a reminder that the Muslim world sufferrs from illiteracy, backwardnes ,material and intellectual poverty. The major change may only come from education and a revolutionary trnsformation of Islam. As it well known from other places in the world the barbaric behavior of crowds goes hand in hand with their intellectual emptyness and the huge lack of knowledge of the modern world. It is revealing that the Islamic world contains the most primitive people on the planet. One can 't imagine a success of Islam in any civilized and progressive . society. As Daniel Pipes says, the key is modifying Islam . A good idea understood by progressive Muslims, but not realistic in this century. At this point the only realistic policy of the West is Containment. Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes.
