Oswald's Malign LegacyReader comment on item: Lee Harvey Oswald's Malign Legacy Submitted by Tom Quigan (United States), Nov 22, 2007 at 14:09 As a 38 year long liberal Democrat until the Clinton scandals, I have tried to understand how and why the Democratic Party became so anti-American. The day of Kennedy's assasination I watched my college roomate peel off his "Goldwater for President" bumper sticker. That's just how fast the media message of guilt was layed onto conservatives. It took the Kennedy assasination for Mario Savio's 1960 Berkeley Anti-American movement to be embraced by mainstream liberal Democrats and make the counter culture hip. Soon Jessie Jackson would be leading campus chants, "hey, hey, ho, ho Western civ has got to go" and Lee Harvey Oswald was forgotten. Movies like Oliver Stone's, JFK, sealed the deal.
