in response to reader comment: Turkey's PPK Issues Another Diversion To Middle East Issues

Submitted by Peter Herz (United States), Nov 3, 2007 at 20:58

Dr. Pipes, your column reminded me of your book on Greater Syria. Damascus is mad because it does not control the Hatay, Jordan, Israel, and Lebanon; now Turkey is wondering whether it can't renew a bid for a chunk of non-Arab Ottoman land it failed to inherit. This is another reminder that with or without Israel, the Middle East is a volatile place, and will remain so until various parties there exhaust themselves.
