The real issue with Khalil Gibran

Reader comment on item: Parodying Khalil Gibran

Submitted by Benyamin Korn (United States), Oct 28, 2007 at 10:24

Let's not lose sight of the real point: the gross misappropriation of Gibran's name for an Islamicist project. A debate over the relevance of his poetry and thought should not divert us from the fact that he was a Lebanese Christian, spiritual universalist, who would have been appalled that his name is being used as a cover for a radical Jihadist agenda.
