Dear Mayor GiulianiReader comment on item: Giuliani's Fresh Start Submitted by Jim Ryan (United States), Oct 17, 2007 at 20:46 Now that you have enlisted Daniel Pipes, along with the others mentioned in the Newsweek article, I'm inclined to vote for Giuliani in the primary. With this move, Giuliani has shown some uncommonly good sense. By the way, the term "neoconservative" may have meant something ten years ago, but now it is either a brickbat tossed by leftists or a meaningless sound (or both). It is unable to handle sorts of distinctions that anyone serious about describing foreign policy positions needs to make. For example, the space between Bernard Lewis's "liberate them or they destroy us" and Pipes's support for stability in Iraq - this is the sort of issue, amongst may others, that renders the term "neoconservative" obsolete. Reasoned disagreement is welcome but not comments that are scurrilous, off-topic, commercial, disparaging religions, or otherwise inappropriate.
