The Brotherhood...Reader comment on item: Knights Templar Trial Records Made Public – After Seven Centuries Submitted by DONVAN (United States), Oct 17, 2007 at 14:19 The Order of The Freemasons offers a degree closely resembling the Knights Templar. The Pope issued a Papal Bull renouncing Free Masons, even to excommunication for any catholic joining the organization. The Church viewed, and views, Freemasonary as a competitor. The use of ritual and the secrecy surrounding the initiation, the subjugation of religious belief to the philosophy of Universal Brotherhood achieved thru reason with all religion left "...At the door" of the Masonic Temple. The Church obviously has a problem with this. The reality is that Philosophical Freemasony has been , is now and will be, a great force for good and the progress of human kind. Masons believe in a supreme being. And they have elevated the Shriners Lodge in an attempt to incorporate the Muslims into the Order , with little success. In 1928 the Muslims started the "Islamic Brotherhood" in Egypt , a pathetic attempt to compete with the Masonic Brotherhood. We need to see more Freemasons, and their philosophy ,which gave voice and meaning to The Enlightenment, and was the guiding philosophy of the Founders of the United States.
